James Parkinson
"In contentious scenarios, issues can feel personal and distort perspective. Clear communication and sound commercial decision-making refocus attention on the bigger picture, safeguard the outcomes that matter most, and turn complex disputes into decisive, positive results.”
James is a Partner at Arkus Advisory, a Cayman Islands-based restructuring and insolvency advisory firm, with over 17 years' experience advising creditors, directors, and stakeholders across some of the most complex and contested insolvency and restructuring mandates in offshore and international markets.
His work spans informal wind-downs, formal insolvency appointments, asset recovery, and cross-border enforcement matters involving offshore structures and onshore litigation. He has acted in Officer of the Court roles and advised on multijurisdictional matters across the Cayman Islands, UK, and Middle East. James is particularly experienced in situations involving contentious stakeholder dynamics, litigation-driven restructurings, acute liquidity crises, and asset dissipation, advising both regulated and unregulated entities, from single-purpose vehicles to multinational groups and listed companies.
James is known for bringing commercial clarity to situations where competing interests, litigation risk, and time pressure would otherwise obscure the path forward. He has a track record of recovering value in circumstances where the prospects of recovery were, at the outset, considered poor.
Recognised as TMA UK NextGen Professional of the Year in 2018, James brings a combination of technical rigour and commercial judgment to every mandate. He advises clients who need a practitioner equally comfortable in a boardroom, a courtroom, or a cross-border enforcement context.
Prior to Arkus Advisory, James held senior positions at global professional services firms across the Cayman Islands, London, and Bahrain. This international grounding informs his approach to complex cross-border restructuring and recovery mandates.
